The rack and pan are easy to remove for cleaning. Bottom line - I always prefer to use this oven instead of my full size oven unless the things I am cooking are too large for the Avante. I've owned this convection oven almost 4 years and have used it a great deal. The not-so-good: one of the control buttons was mislabeled (but it is very easy to operate so not a big deal), the bun warmer doesn't work that well, as a toaster it isn't that great but can get by with it if a real toaster isn't available. It heats fast, cooks well, cools quickly, and can be stored out of sight, nice product. The good: as a convection oven it works great. It is easy to set or adjust the cook time and temperature, the rack can hold a good sized dish and their is adequate height to put taller foods in the oven, the unit is small enough to be put away out of sight under a counter.
It ruined our dinner that night because glass was in everything. It shattered and flew everywhere in the kitchen. Do not purchase. Very dangerous. As with all the other reviews here describing the door shattering ours did as well.
First and foremost, all of those people returning their "defective" ovens because of a "grinding" sound coming from the "fan" don't know the first thing about a convection oven, so they're missing out on a great product. Someone was at least smart enough to compare it to the pumping sound of a dishwasher. It's quite normal and it is only noticeable as the AIR PUMP gets up to speed. In fact, I just went to the kitchen to move my crab cakes from the MicroWave to the Avante Convection Oven and it sounds less like a purr, than a soft humming sound.
If not the fan would have to be belt driven (melted rubber anyone). I call that smart because that's what they're hearing. A fan would never survive the 350-500 degree temperatures of an oven like this. or gear driven and how would you keep the gears lubricated at 500 degrees. The bottom line is that this is a great oven for finishing off a quick meal that requires browning, after starting it in the microwave. The motor would be right in the path of the hot blasting air. It's not a fan, nor is it a grinding sound.
It's not a fan; it's an air pump. It's not great as a toaster, but it can't be beat for baking or broiling when you don't need a full-sized oven, and you can reduce the cooking time considerably when baking, thanks to the convection provided by the AIR PUMP. After that, it's nothing more than a gentle purring sound. My crab cakes that would have taken 25-28 minutes in a normal oven will now be crisp and ready after 4-5 minutes in the microwave and 2-3 minutes on either side in the convection oven.
We purchased this toaster oven in 2004 and just can't say enough about how wonderfully it has performed. We've had several toaster ovens in the last 30 plus years.and this one is by far the best one we've ever had. There are so many dishes that can be prepared in the small oven (saving heating up a larger one) and they cook surprisingly well.Highly recommend
It has a fairly large capacity and unless you're cooking a huge roast or turkey or a full size pizza, this is a great counter top oven for every day use. I hardly ever use my regular oven anymore so it has helped reduce my electric bill. I've had this oven for nearly a year now and love it. It bakes and broils quickly and evenly without having to preheat it, and the kitchen doesn't get over-heated.
